ELL Resources Highlight Instruction, PD, and Family Engagement
Guidance documents for teaching English language learners in low-incidence districts, developed with support from the New England Comprehensive Center by the Connecticut Department of Education, are now publicly available. A Resource Guide for Low-Incidence Districts contains sections on instructional practices, professional development and educator support, and family, school, and community engagement. NECC staff worked with a subcommittee of CAPELL, Connecticut Administrators of Programs for English Language Learners, to develop the 72-page resource, which uses a question-and-answer format to provide research-based approaches to common issues arising in the education of English language learners.
