Response to Intervention

The New England states have adopted Response to Intervention (RTI) as a comprehensive intervention approach to meet the academic and behavioral needs of all students. While RTI implementation is progressing in elementary schools, states have identified a need for greater understanding of the RTI approach in early intervention services, secondary schools and some student populations such as English language learners and students with disabilities. This new NECC regional initiative responds to a direct request from some states to engage in learning and problem-solving with colleagues in other states and with experts in the field. In collaboration with colleagues at the National RTI Center and other federal agencies, NECC is convening state education leaders and other stakeholders to explore RTI implementation in priority areas by accessing the latest research and identifying exemplars in the region.
