Vermont

NECC is assisting the VT DOE in assessing its system of support for districts and schools with a view to developing a strategic plan for systemic support to equip students for college, careers, and citizenship. The Center is also working with VT DOE to integrate Response to Intervention (RTI) initiatives into the larger system of interventions related to Education Transformation to assure a broad and comprehensive approach. VT DOE has tapped NECC for assistance in developing leadership models for supervisory unions and identifying pilot schools.

In work related to its agenda for Educational Transformation, the VT DOE had identified educator workforce issues such as administrator effectiveness, workforce monitoring, and teacher and teacher leader evaluations. NECC is working with VT DOE to develop and implement strategies to address these critical areas.

NECC staff members earlier consulted with Vermont leaders to develop strategies for implementing Vermont Secondary Schools for the 21st Century: Ensuring Each Student Can Succeed in College, Career and Citizenship, the state's secondary education transformation project, and also assisted in developing an Adolescent Literacy Tool Kit.
